Daria Brooks
Author/Illustrator
A fan of superhero tales since early childhood, writer Daria H Brooks first dove into her stories of the aquatic heroes of Nereidia Pacifica in comic book form, which she both wrote and illustrated. Having become well-known for her essays on the classic TV series, “Thunderbirds,” TechTV sought her assistance in developing content for their “Pop-Up Video” styled version of the Gerry and Sylvia Anderson series. Ms. Brooks’ ‘autobiographies’ of the Tracy brothers later appeared on the A&E Home Video DVD, “The Best Of Thunderbirds.” A California native, she is a member of The Society Of Children’s Book Writers And Illustrators and a sustaining member of Comic-Con International San Diego and a charter member of the Comic-Con Museum. Daria holds an AA in General Studies/Arts and Humanities from El Camino College, a BA in Comparative World Literature and a minor in Film and Electronic Arts. She also has a certificate in Graphic Design and has written and illustrated her debut novel, two childrens books and a full-length comic book based upon the 'A Legacy Of The Pacific' novel.
Daria's Young Adult novel, “A Legacy Of The Pacific,” was published in 2011, followed in 2015 by her first book for young readers, “Pincin, Prince Of The Pacific.” The latter has been utilized by numerous science teachers to interest students in the subjects of Marine Science, environmental studies and ecology programs. The sequel, 'Pincin And The Blue Whales' followed in 2017. Ms. Brooks enjoys World Music and Classic Rock, whale watching tours and traveling, particularly her visits to the British Isles and California’s Channel Islands and Central Coast. “Pincin And The Blue Whales” was written in honor of her state’s many coastal wonders.
